OUR STORY

How we got here

We met on a rainy Tuesday at a friend's birthday dinner, seated next to each other purely by chance — or so we thought, until we later learned a mutual friend had rearranged the place cards. The conversation started with a disagreement about the best way to make coffee and somehow didn't stop for three hours.

The years that followed were full of small, ordinary adventures: first apartments, first bad haircuts, road trips with questionable playlists, and a shared love of getting lost in cities we'd never been to. Somewhere along the way, "us" stopped feeling like a discovery and started feeling like home.

Last autumn, on a walk along the shore near where we first met, Oskar asked the question — and Elin, for once, didn't have a witty comeback ready. Just a yes, and a lot of happy tears. We're so glad to be starting this next chapter, and even happier to celebrate it with the people who matter most.

LOGISTICS & PRACTICALITIES

Getting there and settling in

LOCATION

The wedding will take place at a restored 19th-century manor on a small island in the Helsinki archipelago, a short boat ride from the mainland. The grounds include a walled garden, a lakeside terrace for the ceremony, and a converted barn where dinner and the afterparty will be held — so pack accordingly for a mix of grass, gravel, and dance floor.

ACCOMMODATION

A block of rooms has been reserved at two hotels in the nearby town, both within a fifteen-minute drive of the harbor: a small boutique hotel with a handful of rooms, and a larger waterfront hotel with more availability. Mention "Elin & Oskar's wedding" when booking to receive the reserved rate — we recommend booking early, as rooms are limited.

For those who'd prefer something more independent, there are several well-reviewed guesthouses and holiday cottages in the surrounding area, most within a twenty-minute drive. We're happy to share specific recommendations if you reach out directly.

TRAVEL

Most guests will arrive via Helsinki, which is well connected by air and rail from elsewhere in Finland and abroad. From central Helsinki, it's about a 45-minute drive to the harbor, where a chartered boat will take guests across to the island at set times throughout the afternoon.

If you don't have a car, don't worry — we're arranging a shared bus from central Helsinki to the harbor timed around the boat departures. There's a box for this on the RSVP form below, so we know how many seats to book.

GIFTS

A note on gifts

Your presence at the wedding is truly the only gift we're hoping for. If you'd still like to give something, we'd be grateful for a contribution toward our first home together rather than a physical gift — a small box will also be set up at the reception for cards.

MISCELLANEOUS

A few other things

The dress code is semi-formal — think garden party rather than black tie, and comfortable shoes for grass and gravel paths. Evenings by the water can be cool even in June, so a light jacket or shawl is worth bringing. While we adore your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration, with the exception of close family. If you have any questions that aren't covered here, don't hesitate to reach out to either of us directly.
